In The Woods Entertainment was born around 2014 with an idea for a funny short video where a man is eaten by zombies and then asks where the director is, insisting he isn’t supposed to die and was in fact the star of the film.
Having conscripted a ragtag crew for the endeavor, we all met up to film – and it rained! The idea starts with a campfire and contained all exterior shots, so we had to call an audible – but to what?
Using an old pizza box, a fake mustache, some vodka, and a shotgun we put something different together and filmed the original idea another night. Together the two shorts made a nice pair of zombie movies which we were able to release in time for Halloween 2014. Some hilarious bits and now certified classic lines caught on among friends, co-workers, and acquaintances. When people started asking, “When does the next one come out?” we began to run with the idea of making funny videos and followed it up with a Thanksgiving video and a Christmas video.
Far from perfect, the unpolished production accentuated the clever humor in a way that propelled us toward improving and continuing to make movies.
